The North Queensland Land Council (NQLC), the recognised Native Title Representative Body (NTRB) for a region spanning more than 943,000 km², is seeking an experienced, culturally capable and values‑driven Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through its next phase of strategic delivery, organisational strengthening and sector leadership.

NQLC works alongside Traditional Owners to progress native title outcomes, support Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), and strengthen governance, culture and community aspirations across North Queensland.
  • Salary Range: Circa $200K (depending on experience) + 15.4% superannuation + motor vehicle
About the Role
Reporting to the Board, the CEO provides executive leadership across all statutory, operational and strategic functions, including:
  • Multidisciplinary leadership — legal, research, anthropology, future acts, PBC support and corporate services
  • NTRB compliance — ensuring statutory functions and obligations are met to the highest standard
  • Stakeholder relationships — Traditional Owners, PBCs, governments and sector partners
  • Financial stewardship — funding compliance, organisational risk and financial management
  • Governance support — high‑quality advice, reporting and strategic plan implementation
  • Sector representation — representing NQLC as a respected voice in the native title system
About You
You are an experienced senior executive with strong cultural capability, governance literacy and the ability to lead a complex organisation with clarity and purpose.
You will bring:
  • Knowledge of the native title system and NTRB functions, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities
  • Senior leadership experience in a complex, multidisciplinary environment
  • Financial and funding compliance capability
  • Governance and Board support experience
  • High‑level communication and advocacy skills
  • Understanding of regional Aboriginal contexts
