Our client is a Legaltech startup changing how Australians pay for divorce. The platform provides funding for people to cover their legal costs when going through divorce and separation. They are scaling fast, and we are looking for a commercial and driven Family Lawyer to partner with family law firms and help build the company from the ground up. If you're an experienced family lawyer with an entrepreneurial mindset, ready for more variety, faster pace, and a real commercial role, this could be the opportunity for you.

About the role
The role is primarily about partnering with family law firms to bring the funding platform to them and their clients. You will also be involved in assessing applications from prospective clients for funding eligibility, liaising with clients and firms to understand each case, proactively addressing risks as they arise, and ongoing risk monitoring across the loan book. You will report to the Legal Manager on the status of active cases and be part of a small, growing team and have the opportunity to shape how the company grows. The company is setting up an office in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs but as a legaltech startup, flexible working will be the norm.

About you

• Minimum 3 years as a Family Lawyer (but could be more)
• Passionate about about family law and assisting clients in challenging times
• A steady, compassionate, and solution-focused contact for clients and law firm partners
• Confidence and professionalism in working directly with lawyers and clients and managing sensitive matters
• Ability to analyse risk, coupled with sound judgment
• Drive to build, move fast, improve processes and make this your own
• Entrepreneurial nature and excited about working in a dynamic, agile, startup environment
• Looking to move out of the practice of family law but still use your knowledge and relationships
