About our client

Our client is an industry leading boutique commercial firm with an outstanding reputation. Centrally located in Sydney CBD, our client has light and airy offices creating a pleasant work environment for all, close to shops and public transport.

The firm is incredibly proud of its reputation for servicing a longstanding client base across diverse industry sectors including arts & media, FMCG, Government and more. The firm also enjoys low turnover of staff, testament to firm management, strong support of staff and career growth opportunity.

The employment relations practice has grown organically over time and is currently experiencing its strongest growth spurt ever. For this reason, an opportunity as arisen for senior workplace relations lawyer to join the team.

The Role
Providing key support to the partner of the firm, the role will suit a senior lawyer (minimum 7+ yr PQE) seeking a change.

The role is mainly advisory work, assisting clients broadly with day-to-day workforce management, dispute resolution, restructuring, terminations, unfair dismissals and general protections claims, for example.

This is not a role offering a partnership track. It will perhaps suit a senior lawyer looking to do broad reaching advisory work for blue chips clients, within a supportive environment. The person could be a senior associate looking to step up to take on more client management responsibility, or perhaps a partner who is looking towards retirement in the next few years, seeking a role where they can do great quality work and assist with mentoring more junior team members. Part time (4 day) consultancy is an option.

  • Possess 7+ years PQE preferably in employment advisory work
  • Ideally have previous experience in running matters in the Fair Work Commission and other applicable courts/tribunals.
  • Have experience in liaising and dealing with employers and clients across a diverse range of industries and sectors and able to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Have an ability to build strong client relationships, manage client expectations and run matters autonomously with minimal direction and supervision from a Partner.
  • Have commercial acumen.
  • Possess excellent drafting, analytical, practical and client focused problem solving, communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven mentoring and supervisory skills.
  • Be motivated, self-driven and have an ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
  • Have the capacity to remain calm and professional under pressure and in a fast-paced role.
