Our client is a highly regarded, award-winning law firm with one of the most active commercial litigation and disputes practices in the market. Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Special Counsel to join a high-performing team working on complex, high-profile litigation.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior litigator seeking challenging work, direct client engagement and the chance to play a key role in the continued growth of a thriving practice.

The Opportunity Working alongside respected Partners, you will lead and manage complex commercial disputes while providing strategic advice to a sophisticated client base including ASX-listed companies, private enterprises, founders, boards and high-profile individuals.

Your work will include:

• Managing complex commercial litigation matters from strategy through to resolution
• Appearing in, or managing matters before, the Supreme Court of NSW and the Federal Court of Australia
• Advising clients on a broad range of disputes including contract, shareholder, partnership, joint venture, director duties, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and insolvency-related matters
• Providing strategic pre-litigation advice to help clients assess risk and resolve disputes at an early stage where possible
• Drafting and settling pleadings, affidavits, submissions and complex court documentation
• Working closely with experienced Partners on high-value and strategically significant matters
• Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, supporting their technical development and litigation skills
• Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Approximately 7+ years' post-admission experience specialising in commercial litigation and disputes
• Experience as a Special Counsel or Senior Associate ready to step into a senior leadership role
• Strong litigation experience in the Supreme Court of NSW and Federal Court of Australia
• Excellent drafting, advocacy and strategic advisory skills
• The ability to manage complex matters independently from commencement through to resolution
• A commercial mindset with a practical, solutions-focused approach to dispute resolution
• Outstanding communication and client relationship management skills
• A collaborative leadership style with a genuine interest in mentoring junior lawyers
• Strong organisational skills and the confidence to manage competing priorities
