OUR CLIENT

A respected not-for-profit organisation is seeking a dedicated CATSI Act Compliance Manager to join their Governance and Native Title Services team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on meaningful projects supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations and communities.

The organisation supports native title holders and Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs) across the region, helping build strong, self-determining organisations that manage land and sea in accordance with traditional laws and customs.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Principal Legal Officer, the CATSI Act Compliance Manager plays a key role ensuring both the organisation and its member corporations meet their obligations under the CATSI Act, Native Title Act, and associated regulations.
You will work closely with internal support teams, external stakeholders, and native title corporations to strengthen governance processes, enhance compliance, and support projects that improve outcomes for traditional owner groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee compliance activities under the CATSI Act for the organisation and its member PBCs.

  • Provide professional secretariat support for board and member meetings, including agendas, minutes, resolutions and lodgements.

  • Draft and prepare governance documents, reports, applications and educational materials.

  • Coordinate and facilitate PBC meetings, workshops and boundary mapping projects.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to improve governance capacity through education and practical support.

  • Maintain accurate records and reporting registers using internal systems.

  • Support the delivery of corporate and native title operational plans and compliance reporting.

About You
  • Strong working knowledge of the CATSI Act, PBC Regulations, and Native Title Act 1993.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Outstanding time management, organisation, and attention to detail.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other information management systems.

  • Ability to work independently, travel frequently to regional and remote areas, and manage multiple priorities.

  • Current Driver’s Licence and (or willingness to obtain) a Working with Children Check.
