Junior Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will support the legal function across a wide range of corporate and commercial matters. Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, ensuring clear terms, compliance, and balanced risk allocation
• Managing high-value debt recovery matters and supporting litigation activities
• Providing advice on lease agreements and assisting with national account negotiations
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver timely, practical and commercially focused legal advice
• Advising across trade practices, unfair contract terms, and general commercial law matters
• Contributing to improvements in legal processes and frameworks to support risk awareness and continuous improvement

Skills and experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Law
• 3–6 years post-admission experience in corporate and/or commercial law from either private practice or in-house
• Experience in B2B services or a similar sector is highly regarded
• Strong willingness to learn, with transferable skills welcomed
• Strong understanding of indemnities, risk allocation, and contract management
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts in plain English
• Commercially minded and solutions-focused
• Easygoing, hardworking and willing to support the team as needed
• Team-first attitude - happy to pitch in with whatever needs to be done
