OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
You will be responsible and accountable for the legal risk management, governance and compliance of the Group Treasury activities across all business and locations, reporting on a day-to-day basis to the Group Leader. You will be supporting the Group’s continued access to a diversified suite of funders, expanding the source of funds, lowering the cost and ensuring optimal capital efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all legal and compliance aspects of funding vehicles and capital markets programs, with a focus on transaction execution.
- Oversee legal matters across multiple concurrent funding initiatives, including the engagement and management of external legal firms.
- Provide legal advice on treasury strategies, including debt and financial risk management.
- Deliver non-transactional, project-based legal risk management, governance, and compliance support to the Treasury team.
- Administer the Legal & Regulatory Risk Management and Compliance Framework as it applies to Treasury activities.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, rating agencies, investors, legal counterparts, and regulators, on legal and compliance matters.
- Support and develop Treasury team members as a senior leader within the function.
- Manage key relationships with banks, investors, trustees, legal advisors, rating agencies, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead legal aspects of treasury-related projects and collaborate with senior management and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and present legal and risk papers for the Executive, the Board, and other Board committees.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You will be a relationship-driven, flexible and passionate legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with excellent multi-tasking skills and a strong focus on delivering outcomes. You will bring:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in securitisation, structuredor asset finance, debt capital markets ideally gained within a leading bank, financial institution, or top or mid-tier law firm.
- A tertiary Australian LLB or equivalent legal qualification and an Australian practising certificate; an undergraduate degree in finance, business, or economics will be highly regarded.
- Strong expertise in debt capital markets, structured finance transactions, and the regulatory environment governing treasury functions.
- A proven ability to deliver high-quality legal, governance, and compliance advice aligned with commercial objectives.
- Experience managing complex funding transactions and coordinating multiple concurrent initiatives.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships across senior internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently with sound judgement, ensuring legal and compliance risks are identified and managed effectively.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise advice and Board-level reporting.
- A strong commitment to legal excellence, ethical leadership, and fostering a culture of compliance..
