Our client is a highly regarded commercial law firm with an established presence in the Sydney market. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Associate with 6+ years PQE to join its Employment & Workplace Relations practice.

Working closely with a highly regarded Partner, you will advise both employers and senior employees across a broad range of employment, industrial relations and workplace health and safety matters.

This role will suit an ambitious employment lawyer looking for high-quality work, direct Partner exposure and the opportunity to develop their own professional profile and client base.

The Role
  • Unfair dismissal and general protections claims
  • Bullying and discrimination matters
  • Industrial disputes
  • Enterprise agreement matters
  • Representing clients before the Fair Work Commission, courts and tribunals
  • Employment and industrial relations advice
  • Workplace Health & Safety advice and prosecutions
  • Drafting employment contracts and workplace policies
  • Advising on industrial awards and their application
  • Preparing and delivering workplace training
  • Conducting employment and WHS research
  • Drafting articles and thought leadership
  • Presenting on employment law developments
  • Participating in client development and broader business development initiatives
You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work and develop your market presence through articles, presentations, client training and business development, with the backing of an established and well-connected practice.

About You:
  • 6+ years PQE in employment and workplace relations law
  • Strong employment and industrial relations experience
  • Knowledge of WHS law and relevant legislation
  • Understanding of industrial awards and their application
  • Experience appearing before the Fair Work Commission and other courts or tribunals
  • Excellent drafting and technical legal skills
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Commercial awareness and a practical approach to advice
  • An interest in business development and building your own professional profile
  • A collaborative and enthusiastic approach
